Standing sentinel over the Mississippi Gulf Coast since 1848, Biloxi Light is one of the first cast-iron lighthouses built in the South. Rising 65 feet above Biloxi’s beachfront on U.S. Highway 90, this striking white tower is notable for being one of the few lighthouses to have had female keepers for much of its history. Still an active navigational aid, the lighthouse is not currently open to public climbing. For the best photographs, visit during golden hour when the tower glows against the Gulf waters. Nearby, visitors can explore the Biloxi Visitors Center, the beautiful white-sand beaches, and the charming seafood restaurants along the waterfront.
