Horseshoe Canyon (South) showcases some of Utah‘s most dramatic canyon scenery, where three tributary canyons converge amid sheer sandstone walls, colorful rock formations, and massive overhangs. Managed by the Bureau of Land Management, this wilderness study area features weathered sandstone benches, grassy parks, buttes, domes, and sand dunes across its rugged terrain.

Dispersed camping is permitted on BLM land, allowing visitors to establish primitive campsites throughout accessible areas. No developed campgrounds exist within the WSA, so pack all water, supplies, and waste out. High-clearance vehicles are recommended for reaching trailheads, as access roads can be rough and impassable when wet.

Popular activities include hiking, photography, canyoneering, and wildlife observation. The canyon system rewards exploration with hidden alcoves and sweeping vistas. Spring and fall offer the most comfortable temperatures for backcountry travel, while summer brings intense heat and potential flash flood conditions during monsoon season.
