Rising from the marshy shores of Smith Island, Maryland, Fog Point Light was built in 1827 to guide vessels through the treacherous waters of the Chesapeake Bay. The lighthouse served as a critical navigational aid for decades before being deactivated. Now standing as a weathered sentinel, it remains one of the few surviving reminders of Smith Island’s maritime heritage.

The lighthouse is not open to the public and cannot be climbed, but it can be viewed from the water. Golden hour and foggy mornings offer the most dramatic photography conditions.
