Standing guard at the eastern entrance to Long Island Sound, Little Gull Island Light has guided mariners since 1806, making it one of New York’s oldest lighthouse stations. The current granite tower replaced earlier structures and remains an active aid to navigation maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard.

The island is not open to the public, so visitors cannot climb the tower. However, the lighthouse is best appreciated by boat, with charter services departing from Orient Point and New London. Golden hour provides ideal photography conditions, with sunset backlighting the tower dramatically.
