Bluff Point Light stands on the northern tip of Valcour Island in Lake Champlain, New York. Built in 1874, this limestone lighthouse guided vessels through the narrow channel between the island and the mainland for decades before being decommissioned. The octagonal tower and attached keeper’s dwelling showcase classic Victorian-era lighthouse architecture. No longer active, the light is not open to the public, and visitors cannot climb the tower. However, kayakers and boaters can approach the island for striking views. Late afternoon light in summer and early fall offers the best photography conditions.
