Burlington Breakwater North Light

Burlington Breakwater North Light

Lake Champlain · New Hampshire

Standing at the end of Burlington Harbor’s northern breakwater since 1857, this historic beacon has guided vessels safely into port for over 165 years. The lighthouse remains an active aid to navigation, its light still warning mariners of the rocky breakwater.

While the tower itself is not open to public access, visitors can walk the breakwater for excellent views of the structure. The best photography opportunities come during golden hour, when warm light illuminates the tower against Lake Champlain’s waters, or during dramatic winter conditions when ice formations surround the breakwater.

Nearby attractions include Burlington’s vibrant Church Street Marketplace, the ECHO Leahy Center for Lake Champlain, and scenic waterfront parks perfect for picnicking and sunset viewing.
