Standing on the western shore of Lake Champlain in Champlain, New York, Point Aux Roches Light was built in 1859 to guide vessels through the narrow northern reaches of the lake. The lighthouse served mariners for decades before being decommissioned and is no longer an active aid to navigation. Its stone construction and lakeside setting make it a picturesque example of mid-19th-century lighthouse architecture.

The lighthouse is not open to the public and cannot be climbed, but it can be viewed and photographed from nearby Point Au Roche State Park. Golden hour on summer evenings offers the best light, with the Adirondack Mountains as a backdrop. The state park provides hiking trails, swimming beaches, and excellent birdwatching opportunities along the lakeshore.
