Perched on a rocky island off Greenwich, Connecticut, Great Captain Island Light has guarded Long Island Sound since 1830. This historic stone lighthouse served mariners for over a century before being deactivated. The original granite tower, built in the Federal style, remains remarkably well-preserved despite nearly two centuries of coastal weather.

Visiting: The lighthouse is not open to the public and cannot be climbed. The island is accessible only by private boat, though kayakers and boaters can view the exterior from the water.
