Cold Spring Harbor Light
New York
Perched on the western shore of Cold Spring Harbor in Long Island’s Gold Coast region, this charming lighthouse has guided mariners since 1890. The compact tower, still an active navigational aid, stands as one of the few remaining original lighthouses on Long Island’s north shore. Though not open to the public for climbing, the lighthouse is easily viewed and photographed from the surrounding shoreline. Golden hour at sunset offers the best light for photography, with the harbor and Connecticut coastline as a backdrop. Nearby, visitors can explore the Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery, the Whaling Museum, and the village’s quaint shops and waterfront trails — making this a worthwhile stop on any North Shore excursion.
