Perched atop the dramatic Aquinnah Cliffs on Martha’s Vineyard, Gay Head Light has guided mariners since 1856. This active lighthouse stands watch over one of New England’s most striking coastal landscapes, where clay cliffs in shades of red, orange, and white meet the Atlantic.

The lighthouse is not open to public climbing, but the surrounding area offers spectacular views. The cliffs themselves are a National Natural Landmark, sacred to the Wampanoag tribe.
