Raspberry Island Light

Built in 1862 on a small island in Wisconsin’s Apostle Islands archipelago, Raspberry Island Light guided vessels through Lake Superior’s treacherous waters for over a century. The wooden lighthouse features a classic clapboard keeper’s dwelling attached to a square tower, representing one of the earliest light stations established in the Apostle Islands. Now decommissioned, the lighthouse is maintained by the National Park Service as part of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. The station is not open to the public for climbing. Golden hour and early morning fog create dramatic photography conditions, particularly from the water. Nearby, visitors can explore sea caves by kayak, hike pristine island trails, and visit the better-known Apostle Islands lighthouses accessible by tour boat.
