Chequamegon Point Light

Standing on the windswept tip of Long Island in Wisconsin’s Apostle Islands, Chequamegon Point Light has guided Lake Superior mariners since 1896. Built to mark the dangerous shoals extending from the island’s eastern end, this white steel tower served as a critical navigational aid for vessels navigating the treacherous waters between Long Island and the Chequamegon Bay shoreline. The light was decommissioned and is no longer active. The tower and grounds are not open to the public, though boaters and kayakers can view it from the water.
