Baileys Harbor Light

Built in 1853, Baileys Harbor Light is one of Door County’s earliest navigational aids, originally guiding vessels through the treacherous waters of Lake Michigan. The lighthouse was decommissioned and replaced by the Baileys Harbor Range Lights, making it a purely historical landmark today. Its birdcage-style lantern room and stone construction distinguish it from other Door Peninsula lights. The lighthouse is not open to the public and cannot be climbed, but it’s visible from nearby areas within the Ridges Sanctuary. Golden hour provides the best photography conditions, with warm light filtering through surrounding birch trees. Nearby, visitors can explore the Ridges Sanctuary boardwalks, Toft Point Natural Area, and the charming village of Baileys Harbor.
