Sturgeon Point Light
Lake Huron · Michigan
Standing on the shores of Lake Huron in Haynes Township, Alcona County, Sturgeon Point Light has guided mariners since 1869. The lighthouse remains an active navigational aid, its beam still sweeping across the waters that once claimed numerous vessels along this stretch of Michigan coastline. The attached keeper’s dwelling now houses a small maritime museum operated by the Alcona Historical Society. While the tower itself is not open to public climbing, the grounds and museum welcome visitors seasonally. Golden hour provides stunning photography opportunities, with the lighthouse silhouetted against Lake Huron sunsets. Nearby, Sturgeon Point Trail offers scenic hiking, and Harrisville State Park lies just minutes south for swimming and camping along the lake.
