Pentwater North Pierhead Light
Lake Michigan · Michigan
Standing guard at the entrance to Pentwater Channel on Lake Michigan’s eastern shore, the Pentwater North Pierhead Light guides vessels safely into this charming harbor village. The steel tower, still an active aid to navigation maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard, marks the end of the north pier where Lake Michigan meets Pentwater Lake.
While the lighthouse is not open to the public for climbing, visitors can walk the pier for excellent close-up views. Golden hour and sunset provide the best photography, with the light silhouetted against Lake Michigan’s horizon.
Nearby, explore Pentwater’s walkable downtown, Charles Mears State Park beach, and the Hart-Montague Trail. The village hosts a popular arts and crafts fair each summer.
