Eagle Harbor Light stands guard over the rocky shores of Eagle Harbor on Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula, guiding mariners since 1851. One of the oldest lighthouses on Lake Superior, it was built to serve the booming copper mining industry that defined the region. The red-brick keeper’s dwelling and attached tower create one of the Upper Peninsula’s most photographed scenes. The lighthouse remains an active navigational aid but is not open to the public for climbing. The best photography conditions come during golden hour, when warm light plays off the brick against Lake Superior’s deep blue. Nearby, visitors can explore Brockway Mountain Drive for sweeping panoramic views, the historic town of Copper Harbor, and the rugged trails of Fort Wilkins Historic State Park.
