Copper Harbor Front Range Light

Built in 1869 on the shores of Lake Superior, the Copper Harbor Front Range Light guided vessels into one of Michigan’s most remote harbors during the Keweenaw Peninsula’s copper mining boom. This square wooden tower served as part of a range light system, helping sailors align their approach through the narrow harbor entrance. The lighthouse remains an active navigational aid maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard. It is not open to the public, but photographers can capture striking shots from the nearby shoreline, particularly during golden hour or under the vivid fall foliage in late September.
