Standing sentinel over Copper Harbor, Michigan since 1849, this historic lighthouse marks one of the Upper Peninsula’s most remote harbors. Built during the copper mining boom to guide ore ships through treacherous Lake Superior waters, it remains an active navigational aid today.

Though the lighthouse is not open to the public, visitors can view it by boat or from the shoreline along the Lake Superior coast. The best photography opportunities come at sunrise, when golden light reflects off the harbor, and during fall when surrounding forests blaze with color.
