Smith River Falls Campground
Oregon
Smith River Falls Campground sits along the scenic Smith River in Oregon‘s Coast Range, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The campground offers 10 developed sites with picnic tables and fire rings, operating on a first-come, first-served basis from Memorial Day through September 30.
The river drops over a small waterfall just below the campground, creating excellent fishing opportunities for steelhead and salmon. Swimming holes above the falls provide a refreshing escape during summer months, while the surrounding old-growth forest keeps sites shaded and cool. Bald eagles frequent the area, making wildlife viewing a regular occurrence.
All sites feature universal access restrooms, and the campground accommodates visitors with mobility considerations. The setting works well for picnicking day trips or multi-night stays focused on fishing and swimming.
Access follows paved roads through the Coast Range, approximately 25 miles east of Reedsport. July through September offers the warmest weather and lowest water levels for swimming, though late spring brings peak fishing conditions. This is a developed campground rather than dispersed camping, so expect maintained facilities and designated sites.
