Little Miami State Park
Ohio (Hamilton, Clermont, Warren, Greene County)
Little Miami State Park stretches across 707 acres spanning four Ohio counties — Hamilton, Clermont, Warren, and Greene — following the path of the Little Miami River, one of the first rivers in the country to earn National Scenic River designation. What makes this park truly distinctive is its centerpiece: the Little Miami Scenic Trail, a paved multi-use trail that runs over 70 miles along a former railroad corridor, making it one of the longest paved trails in the United States.
The park is a paradise for cyclists, joggers, and inline skaters who come for the flat, well-maintained trail surface winding through river valleys, wooded corridors, and small towns where you can stop for lunch or a cold drink. Beyond the trail, the Little Miami River itself draws paddlers for canoeing and kayaking through stretches of gentle rapids and calm pools. Anglers will find smallmouth bass, rock bass, and channel catfish in the river’s clean waters. Birders should watch for great blue herons, kingfishers, and bald eagles along the riverbanks.
Spring and fall offer the most comfortable trail conditions, with wildflowers lining the path in April and May and stunning foliage reflecting off the river in October. Summer brings reliable paddling conditions but also humidity — start early.
Expect a linear park experience rather than a traditional campground-and-loop setup. There are no established campgrounds within the park itself, so plan day trips or arrange lodging in nearby towns like Loveland or Xenia.
