Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park

Tucked along the coast in Dania Beach, this 310-acre state park carries one of South Florida’s most meaningful stories. Originally known as John U. Lloyd Beach State Park, it was renamed in 2016 to honor two civil rights leaders who fought for Black beachgoers’ access to Broward County’s shoreline during the Jim Crow era. The park stretches along a barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, offering a striking natural contrast to the dense development surrounding it.
