Standing at the southern tip of Key Biscayne, Cape Florida Light is one of Florida’s oldest standing structures, first lit in 1825. The lighthouse survived a Seminole attack in 1836 that nearly destroyed it and was rebuilt in 1846. Now part of Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, the tower is currently closed to public access and is no longer an active aid to navigation.

The lighthouse remains a striking subject for photographers, with golden hour and sunset offering the best light against the tropical backdrop. Nearby, visitors can enjoy pristine beaches, nature trails, kayaking through mangrove channels, and historic keeper’s cottage grounds — making it a worthwhile destination even without climbing the tower.
