Winter Point Range Front Light
St. Marys River · Michigan
Standing along Michigan’s scenic coastline, Winter Point Range Front Light is an active navigational aid that continues to guide mariners through local waters. As a range light, it works in tandem with its rear counterpart to help vessels maintain safe channel alignment—a classic Great Lakes navigational system.
Though the light remains operational, the tower is not open to the public for climbing or interior access. Visitors can still admire and photograph it from nearby vantage points, with golden hour and early morning offering the most dramatic lighting against the Lake Michigan backdrop.
The surrounding area features charming coastal towns, sandy beaches, and other historic lighthouses, making it an ideal stop on any Michigan lighthouse tour.
