Sodus Point Light stands at the entrance to Sodus Bay on Lake Ontario in Sodus, New York. Built in 1825, it is one of the oldest lighthouses on the Great Lakes. The original stone tower was replaced in 1871 with the current square limestone structure attached to a keeper’s dwelling, now home to the Sodus Bay Lighthouse Museum. Though decommissioned and no longer active, the lighthouse is notable for its well-preserved Victorian-era architecture and maritime exhibits. The tower is not open for climbing, and public access to the interior is limited to museum hours. Golden hour provides the best photography, with the bay as backdrop. Nearby, visitors can explore Sodus Point Beach Park and Chimney Bluffs State Park.
