Standing in the Saint Lawrence River since 1848, Rock Island Light guided mariners through the treacherous Thousand Islands waterway for over a century. The stone lighthouse was decommissioned and is no longer active. Its sturdy construction reflects mid-19th-century engineering, making it a compelling piece of maritime heritage in northern New York.

The lighthouse is not open to the public, and climbing the tower is not permitted. However, it makes an excellent subject for photography from the water — golden hour during summer months offers the best light against the river backdrop.
