Standing on the Potomac River in Maryland, Ragged Point Light has guided mariners since its construction in 1910. This screwpile lighthouse served as a vital navigational aid for vessels traveling the Potomac, part of a network of river lights that kept commerce moving through the Chesapeake Bay region. The light was eventually deactivated and is no longer an active aid to navigation.

The lighthouse is not open to the public and cannot be climbed, but it remains a striking sight from the water. Golden hour and early morning fog offer the best photography conditions from a boat.
