Drum Point Light

Drum Point Light

Originally at Drum Point · Maryland

Built in 1883, Drum Point Light is a screwpile cottage-style lighthouse located in Solomons, Maryland. Originally positioned in the Chesapeake Bay to guide mariners past the shallow waters of Drum Point, it was relocated in 1975 to the Calvert Marine Museum, where it now serves as one of only three surviving screwpile lighthouses on the Bay. The lighthouse is no longer active and is not open for climbing, but visitors can view its distinctive hexagonal cottage exterior up close. Golden hour offers the best photography, with warm light reflecting off the Bay. Nearby, explore the Calvert Marine Museum, Calvert Cliffs State Park, and the charming waterfront boardwalk of Solomons Island.
