Built in 1897, the Grassy Island North Channel Range Lights guided vessels through the narrow channels near Grassy Island, Michigan. This pair of range lights served Great Lakes shipping traffic for decades before being deactivated. The lights are notable for their role in navigating one of the busiest commercial waterways in the region. The station is not open to the public and cannot be climbed, as the structures sit on Grassy Island with limited accessibility. Early morning and late afternoon light offer the best photography conditions, particularly from the water.
