Built in 1853 in the Chesapeake Bay near Havre de Grace, Maryland, Fishing Battery Light served as a crucial navigational aid for vessels traveling the upper bay. The screwpile lighthouse stood on an artificial island constructed to mark the shallow Fishing Battery shoal. No longer active, the structure has deteriorated significantly over the decades and is not open to the public or accessible for climbing.
