Standing on the western end of Fire Island, New York, this historic lighthouse was first constructed in 1826 to guide ships through the treacherous waters off Long Island’s southern shore. The original tower served as a critical navigational aid for vessels approaching New York Harbor during the age of sail.

Though no longer an active aid to navigation, Fire Island Light remains a striking coastal landmark. The tower is currently closed to public climbing, but the surrounding shoreline offers excellent vantage points. Golden hour and early morning provide the best photography conditions, with dramatic light casting across the barrier island.
