Standing on a small island in the Saint Lawrence River since 1848, Crossover Island Light served as a vital navigational aid for vessels navigating the Thousand Islands region of New York. The stone tower guided mariners through the river’s narrow channels for over a century before being deactivated. Though no longer an active aid to navigation, the lighthouse remains a striking landmark visible from the water.

The lighthouse is not open to the public, and visitors cannot climb the tower. The best photography opportunities come during golden hour from a boat on the river, particularly in autumn when the surrounding foliage creates a dramatic backdrop.

Nearby attractions include the Thousand Islands archipelago, Boldt Castle, and numerous scenic boat tours departing from Alexandria Bay and Clayton.
