Perched on the rugged cliffs of Anacapa Island in California’s Channel Islands, this historic lighthouse has guided mariners through the Santa Barbara Channel since 1912. The original lens was replaced in 1932 when the current concrete Art Deco tower was constructed, making it one of the last major lighthouses built on the West Coast.

Though the tower is not open to public climbing, visitors can view it up close via a short trail from the island’s landing cove. The stark white tower against deep blue Pacific skies makes for stunning photography, especially during golden hour or when fog rolls through the channel.
