Tucked along the shores of Boston Harbor in East Boston, Constitution Beach is an 82-acre state park that offers one of the most accessible urban beach experiences in the Greater Boston area. Just minutes from downtown via the Blue Line (Orient Heights station), it’s a rare spot where you can ride the T straight to the sand.

The beach itself stretches along a generous crescent of fine sand facing Winthrop across the harbor, with views of planes descending into nearby Logan Airport — a spectacle that kids and aviation enthusiasts genuinely love. The shallow, calm waters make it a favorite for families with young children, and lifeguards are on duty during summer months.

Beyond the beach, Constitution Beach packs a surprising amount into its acreage. A well-maintained playground, picnic areas with grills, and basketball and tennis courts give the park a neighborhood gathering feel that most coastal parks lack. The adjacent Belle Isle Marsh — the last remaining salt marsh in Boston — connects via walking paths and draws birders year-round, with great egrets, herons, and osprey making regular appearances.
