Built in 1872 on Mobile Bay, Alabama, Battery Gladden Light served as a crucial navigational aid for vessels entering one of the Gulf Coast’s busiest ports. The lighthouse takes its name from a nearby Civil War battery, linking it to the region’s rich military history. Its distinctive design and waterside setting make it a notable example of bay-style lighthouse construction.

The light is no longer active and is not open to the public, so visitors cannot climb the tower. However, it can be viewed and photographed from the water.
