Middle Bay Light

Mobile Bay · Alabama

Rising from the waters of Mobile Bay, Alabama, Middle Bay Light has guided mariners since 1885. This hexagonal screw-pile lighthouse stands as one of the few remaining structures of its kind on the Gulf Coast, making it a significant piece of maritime heritage.

The lighthouse remains an active navigational aid maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard. It is not open to the public, and visitors cannot climb the tower, but it’s best admired by boat. Golden hour and sunset provide stunning photography opportunities, with the lighthouse silhouetted against Mobile Bay’s wide horizon.
