Built in 1852 on Cape St. George Island, Florida, this historic lighthouse endured over 150 years of hurricanes and coastal erosion before finally collapsing into the Gulf of Mexico in 2005. The tower was subsequently rescued and reconstructed on the mainland in nearby Apalachicola, where it stands today as a preserved monument to Florida’s maritime heritage.

The original island site is no longer accessible to the public. The reconstructed tower in Apalachicola is open seasonally and offers panoramic views of the Apalachicola Bay. Golden hour provides the best photography light against the coastal backdrop.
