Coxsackie Light
Hudson River · New York
Built in 1830, the Coxsackie Light stands along the Hudson River in Coxsackie, New York, serving as one of the region’s early navigational aids for river commerce. This historic lighthouse guided vessels through the challenging Hudson River channels during the height of steamboat travel. Now decommissioned, the light is no longer active and is not open to the public, so visitors cannot climb the tower. The best photography opportunities come during golden hour, when the warm light reflects off the Hudson and frames the lighthouse beautifully. Nearby attractions include the Bronck Museum, one of the oldest surviving dwellings in New York State, and the scenic Hudson River waterfront parks ideal for walking and birdwatching.
