Standing guard over Puget Sound since 1913, Alki Point Light marks the spot where Seattle’s founders first landed in 1851. This active Coast Guard lighthouse in West Seattle guides vessels through Elliott Bay’s busy shipping lanes. Its octagonal concrete tower replaced an earlier lantern that had served the point since 1887. While the grounds are not open to the public, the lighthouse is beautifully visible from Alki Beach’s paved waterfront trail.
