Standing guard on Vashon Island’s eastern shore since 1887, Point Robinson Light guides vessels through the busy shipping lanes of Puget Sound. The modest tower remains an active aid to navigation, its beacon still sweeping across the water nightly. While the lighthouse itself is not open to the public for climbing, the surrounding park offers excellent access to the shoreline and grounds. Photographers find the best light during golden hour, when the tower catches warm sunset glow against the backdrop of Mount Rainier. The pebbly beach is a prime spot for watching orcas pass through East Passage. Nearby, visitors can explore Maury Island’s trails and the quaint shops of Vashon’s town center.
