Standing guard over the Apostle Islands since 1858, La Pointe Light is one of Wisconsin’s oldest active lighthouses. Built to guide vessels through the treacherous waters of Lake Superior, it has served mariners for over 165 years. The lighthouse remains an active navigational aid operated by the U.S. Coast Guard.

While not open to public access, the light is best admired from the water aboard Apostle Islands cruise excursions. Golden hour and late summer sunsets provide exceptional photography opportunities, with the lighthouse silhouetted against Lake Superior’s expansive horizon.
