Standing in the middle of the Hudson River since 1874, the Hudson–Athens Lighthouse is a striking Second Empire–style beacon that has guided mariners for over 150 years. The square brick structure, topped with its signature mansard roof, remains an active navigational aid maintained by the Coast Guard. The lighthouse is not open to the public, so visitors cannot climb the tower, but it’s best admired from the riverbanks of Hudson or Athens.
