Oahe Downstream Recreation Area sits along the Missouri River just below Oahe Dam in Stanley County, South Dakota, offering 933 acres of wide-open prairie landscape meeting one of the Great Plains’ mightiest waterways. The tailwaters below the dam create some of the best walleye and chinook salmon fishing in the northern plains, drawing anglers year-round to productive stretches of cold, oxygen-rich water.
