Three Peaks Recreation Area
Utah
Three Peaks Recreation Area sprawls across more than 6,000 acres of high desert terrain in southwestern Utah, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The landscape features volcanic cinder cones and rugged trails that draw mountain bikers seeking technical challenges and scenic rides through juniper-dotted hillsides.
Beyond biking, the area supports an unusually diverse range of activities including a disc golf course, ATV trails, RC car tracks, model airplane flying zones, and equestrian paths. Day use facilities provide convenient access points for shorter visits.
Dispersed camping is permitted throughout BLM-managed portions of the recreation area, allowing visitors to establish primitive campsites away from developed facilities. Standard BLM regulations apply—practice Leave No Trace principles and check current fire restrictions before your trip.
Access is straightforward from Cedar City via paved roads, with dirt roads leading to trailheads and camping areas. High-clearance vehicles are recommended for some backcountry routes.
Spring and fall offer the most comfortable temperatures for camping and outdoor activities, while summer months can bring intense heat to this desert environment. Winter visits are possible but less common.
