Muleshoe Ranch Cooperative Management Area offers a unique landscape where the Sonoran Desert meets the Galiuro Mountains in southeastern Arizona. Managed by the Bureau of Land Management in partnership with The Nature Conservancy, this remote area features seven perennial streams—a rarity in the arid Southwest—supporting diverse wildlife and riparian habitat.

Visitors can explore miles of backcountry trails, observe wildlife including coatimundis and more than 200 bird species, and access hot springs for a rewarding soak after a day of hiking. The rugged terrain includes desert grasslands, oak woodlands, and rocky canyons carved by seasonal water flow.

Dispersed camping is permitted on BLM-managed portions of the property, though visitors should check current regulations and obtain any required permits. The Nature Conservancy operates a few rustic casitas for those seeking basic amenities. High-clearance vehicles are recommended for the unpaved access roads, particularly during monsoon season when washes may flood.

Spring and fall provide the most comfortable temperatures for camping and hiking. Summer monsoons bring dramatic storms and cooler afternoons but can make road conditions unpredictable.
