Fontenelle Creek Recreation Area

Fontenelle Creek Recreation Area

Wyoming

Fontenelle Creek Recreation Area sits along the Green River in southwestern Wyoming, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. This well-developed site offers 55 campsites equipped with covered picnic tables and barbecue grills, making it a solid base for exploring the surrounding high desert landscape.

Water access is a primary draw here. A fully functional boat ramp with dock provides easy launching for fishing trips and water sports on the reservoir. Anglers target trout and other species in the Green River system. The site includes potable water, a trailer dump station, and both vault and flush restrooms—amenities that make extended stays comfortable for RV travelers.

Hiking trails wind through the area, and OHV enthusiasts will find terrain to explore in the broader BLM lands surrounding the recreation site. Two ADA-accessible campsites and restrooms accommodate visitors with mobility needs.

The high elevation means summers are pleasant for camping, while spring and fall bring cooler temperatures ideal for hiking. Winter access may be limited. Dispersed camping opportunities exist on adjacent BLM lands outside the developed recreation area boundaries.
