Upper Sioux Agency State Park

Perched above the confluence of the Minnesota and Yellow Medicine rivers near Granite Falls, Upper Sioux Agency State Park carries a weight of history that few Minnesota parks can match. Established in 1963, this park preserves the site of the Upper Sioux Agency, a federal outpost created in 1854 as part of treaty agreements with the Dakota people. The river valley landscape is striking — tall grass prairie rolls across bluffs that drop sharply to the water below, offering sweeping views that shift dramatically with the seasons.
