Kincaid Lake State Park

Tucked into the rolling hills of Pendleton County near Falmouth, Kincaid Lake State Park spreads across 850 acres of northern Kentucky countryside centered around its namesake 183-acre lake. The park sits roughly an hour south of Cincinnati, making it a favorite escape for both Kentucky residents and visitors from across the Ohio River.

The lake is the main draw here, and for good reason. Its calm, no-wake waters are ideal for fishing — anglers regularly pull in largemouth bass, channel catfish, bluegill, and crappie. A concrete boat ramp provides easy access, and jon boat rentals are available for those without their own vessel. The surrounding hills offer nine holes of golf at a course known for its challenging terrain and scenic views, along with hiking trails that wind through hardwood forests and meadows.

Swimming is available at the park’s pool during summer months, and a well-maintained mini-golf course gives families something to do after a day on the water. Picnic shelters dot the grounds for afternoon cookouts.

The campground features both RV sites with hookups and more secluded tent sites nestled among the trees. Several cottages are also available for those who prefer a roof overhead.

Spring and fall deliver the most comfortable weather for fishing and hiking, while summer fills the pool and golf course. The park sees lighter crowds than Kentucky’s marquee destinations, which means easier campsite reservations and quieter mornings on the lake — exactly the kind of unhurried pace this corner of the state does best.
