Stonington Harbor Light

Standing sentinel at the entrance to Stonington Harbor since 1823, this historic Connecticut lighthouse is one of the oldest in the state. The granite tower served mariners navigating Long Island Sound for over a century before being deactivated, then later relit as an active aid to navigation.

While the lighthouse is not open to public climbing, its picturesque setting makes it a favorite subject for photographers. Visit during golden hour for stunning shots with the harbor as backdrop. Fall offers particularly dramatic lighting and fewer crowds.

Nearby, explore charming Stonington Borough with its antique shops, seafood restaurants, and the Old Lighthouse Museum. The town’s walkable streets and waterfront views make it a perfect New England day trip.
