Point Sherman Light

Standing guard over Alaska’s Lynn Canal since 1904, Point Sherman Light is one of the state’s enduring maritime sentinels. This active aid to navigation marks the eastern shore of one of North America’s deepest and longest fjords, guiding vessels through waters connecting Juneau to Skagway and Haines. The light station is not open to the public, but boaters and ferry passengers along the Alaska Marine Highway can admire it from the water. Summer months offer the best photography, with long golden hours and dramatic mountain backdrops. Nearby, visitors can explore Haines for eagle viewing, take the ferry to Skagway’s Klondike Gold Rush historic district, or watch humpback whales in the surrounding channels.
