Built on the grounds of Fort Monroe, this historic beacon has witnessed the War of 1812, the Civil War’s Battle of the Ironclads, and centuries of maritime traffic. The lighthouse remains an active aid to navigation under Coast Guard operation. While not open to the public for climbing, visitors can view and photograph it from Fort Monroe National Monument’s grounds. Golden hour provides stunning shots with the harbor as backdrop.
